Our story

The best ideas can build up slowly, or they can strike like a sudden, loud bang, clearly pointing in a certain direction. Either way, the way was clear: we would open Clonakilty’s first Tea Shop.

Ireland is the country of tea, so where are all the tea shops? This is why we opened Clonakilty Tea Shop. Our vision was to create a local hub of tea, where Irish tea culture could meet other tea cultures and create a vibrant tea haven. 

Little did we know adversity was coming around the corner - the pandemic began just as we were preparing to open. They were hard times, but we couldn’t let ourselves be defeated. We finally managed to open our doors in July 2020. The next couple of years were tough, as restrictions made it difficult to run a business, let alone a new business. However, with the support from family and this wonderful community which apreciates small local businesses, we made it through.

In Septemer 2022 our Tea Shop moved to another location in Clonakilty: 21 Rossa Street. A more spacious place was very welcome among customers and we’ve been very happy about the move.

Our vision for the future is to make our Tea Shop always a bit cozier, a bit warmer, a bit more Tea- Shoppy. Clonakilty, and Ireland in general, is a place filled with warmth, kindness, cheerfulness and people with big hearts. We want all that to happen over a good cup of tea, made by us, for you.
